Top 5 Hiking Spots in Western MA (and Beyond) — And Pelvic Floor Tips From the Team at Renew Health

At Renew Health, we talk a lot about movement — but not just any movement. We’re about intentional, joyful, strength-building movement that supports your whole body (and pelvic floor!) across all seasons of life.

One of our favorite ways to do that? Hiking.

Hiking is more than just a workout — it’s grounding, empowering, and a chance to reconnect with your body in nature. Whether it’s a short loop on a lunch break or a challenging summit with friends, we’re lucky to have so many incredible trails right here in Western Massachusetts and the surrounding areas.

Here are our top 5 favorite hikes, hand-picked by the Renew Health team — including why we love them from a movement + pelvic health lens.

🥾 1. Mount Tom (Easthampton, MA)

Why we love it: The trail system is super versatile — you can keep it short and scenic or make it a full uphill burner. Great glute activation on the inclines, and the views from the summit are some of the best in the Valley.

Pelvic floor tip: Use the incline as a chance to coordinate breath with effort — exhale as you push up each step to reduce pressure on the pelvic floor and support your core.

🌿 2. The Seven Sisters Trail (Hadley, MA)

👉🏽 View on Google Maps

Why we love it: A local legend. This technical trail challenges your balance, single-leg stability, and stamina. You’ll feel it in your legs, hips, and deep core — in the best way.

Pelvic floor tip: Hiking poles are your friend if you have any pelvic heaviness or back pain — they help with load management and reduce unnecessary strain on the spine.

🌲 3. Bash Bish Falls (Mount Washington, MA)

👉🏽 View on Google Maps

Why we love it: One of the most stunning waterfalls in Massachusetts — with a short but invigorating hike to get there. You can approach from the MA or NY side depending on the level of challenge you’re up for. It’s a beautiful option for a scenic, lower-impact outing that still gets your heart rate up.

Pelvic floor tip: This is a great trail to practice breathwork and mindful walking. The rhythmic movement of hiking to the falls can pair beautifully with diaphragmatic breathing — helping to relax overactive pelvic floor muscles and support nervous system regulation.

🏞️ 4. Mount Holyoke Range State Park (Amherst, MA)

👉🏽 View on Google Maps

Why we love it: Smooth trails, long-distance views, and plenty of elevation for a workout without feeling overwhelming. It’s a great family-friendly option too!

Pelvic floor tip: If you’ve recently had a baby, this is a gentle reintroduction to incline walking and dynamic core control.

⛰️ 5. Mount Monadnock (Jaffrey, NH)

👉🏽 View on Google Maps

Why we love it: Okay, it’s just over the border in New Hampshire — but we had to include it! It’s a classic summit hike with tons of rock scrambling and panoramic views. Worth the drive.

Pelvic floor tip: Rock scrambles? That’s a functional glute day. Be mindful of your breathing and avoid breath-holding as you climb. If you feel tension in your pelvic floor after, it's a sign your body is asking for support or release work.

✨ Bonus Tip:

After your hike, try a pelvic floor reset:

  • Lay on your back with feet on the wall or in constructive rest

  • Breathe deeply into the sides and back of your ribcage

  • Let your pelvic floor soften with each exhale
